WOMEN’S HEALTH SERVICEs
- The practice offers the provision of a comprehensive intergrated antenatal care including high risk pregnancies.
- Early pregnancy assessments to confirm viability and assess each stage of your pregnancy relevant to your needs.
- Ultrasounds include dating, viability, growth as well as 2D and 4D ultrasound scans. Level three ultrasound scans this will be explained and performed during the pregnancy with risk stratification interpretation.
- A detailed birth plan will be discussed in the early third trimester with both parents.
- BIRTH – deliveries include vaginal or assisted vaginal birth, emergency or elective Caesarean section.
- POSTPARTUM care includes post-delivery care, assesment one week post birth as well as comprehensive 6 week assessment (including family planning, cervival cytology as needed).
- Adolescent health – the provision of sensitive comprehensive assessments of young ladies afflicted by menstrual or hormonal abnormalities.
- PCOS – Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is A special area of interest within my practice. This is very common, debilitating and misunderstood condition requiring a holistic response. The practice is well equipped to not only diagnose PCOS but also engage with the patient and establish a management plan which will suit the patients needs, empower them as well as manage it effectively.
- PELVIC PAIN or ENDOMETRIOSIS – As a qualified minimally invasive surgeon, my practice manages condition of pelvic pain (acute or chronic) as well as the diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis. Occasionally endometriosis or complicated ovarian cysts may fail medical management and need to be treated surgically. This may require the patient undergoing endoscopic treatment and removal of said endometriosis.
- ABNORMAL BLEEDING – the management of menstrual irregularities as they arise in each phase of a women’s life. This may include many treatment options as it may suit the final diagnoses as well the patients needs and concerns
- MATURE WOMENS HEALTH – As a long time member of the South African Menopause Society (SAMS) and actively involved in their senior executive structures (SAMS Council member and Treasurer), I am passionate about providing effective health management for mature women. This may include – menopause management, pelvic organ prolapse, incontinenec, postmenopausal bleeding and basic oncology management.
- FERTILITY CARE – the assesment of fertility is managed within the practice and should subspecialist care at a fertility clinic be required, I will facilitate the transfer of care.
- SURGICAL SERVICES – as a qualified gynaecologist and minimally invasive surgeon, the practice does offer a variety of surgical services to improve women’s health. These include but not exclusively (in layman’s terms) womb scrapes, removal of polyps or growths or fibroids, removal or treatment of ovarian cysts, endometriosis, scar tissue, prolapse surgery, fertility assesments. The practice also offers various forms of hysterectomies if the need arises for this drastic treatment option. These include abdominal, vaginal or laparoscopic hysterectomies and aftercare.
